Tig welders
Hi I知 new to this Forum and after a bit of information. I run a Metal Fabrication business and I知 looking at purchasing a new Tig Welder AC/DC. I have only ever purchased one before and it was about ten years ago, I also haven稚 done a lot of tig welding so I知 not that experienced. Can someone tell me what brands are good, I知 currently looking at a WIA, CIG and a Lincoln model. Any input would be great.

Hi Trotty,
Welcome to the MetalWork Forums .
I moved your post as it was posted where many do not go: The Terms of Use page.
Please take the time to look around the sub forum and check them out
Go to the FORUM box at top LH corner and click on it.
A drop down menu appears and you can select Forum Home at the top of the drop down menu list. Scan down the pages to look at what we have.
Please make sure read the Terms of Use -our Rules - pretty standard for many forums these days. By joining the forum its automatic that they apply to you as a member
Normally the soft ware works so you can't post pics or links until 10 posts are made ( or such links and pics are cleared by a mod)
Its anti spam thing.
If any questions contact me via PM and I'll try to help you.
Again,welcome

Tig welder
Hello Trotty.
The Weldskill 200 is a good shop tig and the Razor a bit better for site as the package is smaller. Both are good value and have back up.

Hi Trotty, welcome to the forum.
I went to Welding Equipment Sales & Service (W.E.S.S.) in Wingfield recently, looking for a TIG welder.
They have a good range of welders and are very helpful. I have not bought anything yet.
If you live nearby to there it would be worth a visit.
I would always buy a welder from a local shop (not online). Warranty is very important with these types of welders and
postage can be expensive if you have to return the welder for repairs.
It also depends on your budget. Some of the well known brands - Lincoln, Miller and Fronius can be very
expensive. Note that Lincoln have 2 ranges of welders, the Lincoln Aspect 200 is their premium model, their
Powercraft range are less expensive. Generally, the more expensive welders have higher duty cycles and more features,
such as saving multiple weld settings.

TIG Welders
Hi everyone,
I'm new here, but my first TIG was a Liquide Air machine, and it was the most advanced and most expensive machine in the world, in the late 1970s-80s. It had everything and it scared me! It had to be hard wired and required a 60 amp fuse. Things have changed, and I have tried anything and everything, as TIGS go, the Fronius machines are what I would buy, if I had the money! I haven't, and I own a Chinese WSE 200 pulse machine and a Rossi 250 amp machine that is very close to the Fronius. I know all the local welding stores in Adelaide, but I buy online, what you think you get when you buy local, at the store means nothing. This is just almost 50 years experience speaking.
This advice goes for all electrical equipment, power tools are the main culprit. If my TIG dies today, I lose $800, not $15,000!
Both my machines run water cooled torches, one is a Binzel cooler and the other uses a Miller set up. The Rossi torch is the small version, and I use gas lenses all the time. I buy on Ebay 99% of the time, the prices make me do that.
One thing that has me worried about all welding machines is that bugs can easily find their way in. The warmth attracts them to go and have a look. My Rossi machine got to the point of just switching on, everything comes on, but no arc ignition on pressing the trigger! It had me confused, it just went out of warranty, so I decided to have a closer look, but no luck! It has circuit boards blocking all vision, so I just shook it around to see if anything fell out, and nothing did. I put it back together and hit the trigger, a sudden noise, sparks and smoke came out, and I switched it off, I switched it back on, and it was quiet, I hit the trigger and all works well now! A stray bug can be the only explanation, and spiders are a huge problem today.
The one issue I have, when buying online, is the lack of information and users manuals. The Rossi machine has the ability to save welding configurations, but I can't understand how that is done! The Fronius has very good user manuals, but online bought machines have total rubbish.
I hope to make some videos on YouTube to explain how a cheap Chinese machine can make any Welder look good.
