Hi sembul
It could depend on other factors too, not just the presence of the copper. It seems doubtful. Otherwise the SUB arc wire would not be coated in copper but in something else.
Perhaps the question might be what amount of copper would have an effect?
How did the copper get there?
Is the copper contaminated with grease or oil? All weld preparations need to be as clean as they can possibly be.
Please start from the beginning and supply all of the details as noted in the other answer.
As with any welding the outcome depends on what the input parameters were.
What material are you wanting to weld? .
What grade of steel is it? Is it a cylindrical circumferential weld or a flat plate?
What brand machine are welding it with? What is the amp range? What type of flux are you using.?
It is winter on your side of the world. What is the air temperature in your welding work area?
Are you preheating the work and keeping it evenly heated between work breaks- lunch and coffee breaks ?
Where is the cracking- in the weld bead or in the heat affected zone -the unwelded areas adjacent to where the weld butts up to?
