I just checked the Michigan regulator I bought at Total Tools and the flow metre is in increments of 10 litres per minute, not ideal but I can work with it and fit something better later.

    i mean one of these,https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UWELD-Ar...frcectupt=true

personally i think the gauge type will use more gas . but your type will work good too.

What you have connected to your bottle doesn't really matter, it can be a regulator with gauges or flow meter or no gauges for that matter.

Adjust your pressure with the flow meter at the end of your torch for best results.

    Get something like this

I have finally decided to move onto TIG, already have the gas bottle and just ordered the same torch as in this thread. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Unimig-1...0/183331001983

Does anyone know what else other then tungstens I need?

Does the torch come with collets and a gas shield? Do I need to get them.

Not suitable. That filler material is designed for gas welding and will most likely have insufficient deoxidisers in it for TIG work. As an all rounder, I suggest an ES-6 filler wire in 1.6mm.

Sorry R.C, I just noticed your reply, I had supply issues with that particular seller, they claimed to have them available and then messaged to tell me they didn't have any stock and it could be a couple of weeks, I waited 3 and messaged again when nothing arrived and received a refund without any communication.

I then purchased this torch and received it a few days later https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UNIMIG-S...72.m2749.l2649

It came with the basics to get you started a 1.6mm collet, gas shield, Thoriated tungsten and back cap.

    Yep, you're right.

The guys at Blackwoods sorted me out with 5kg of ES-6

OK, Thanks. The seller is having identical supply issues, and I suspect it is a Unimig issue. Some year or years back I have bought a Unimig 45 amp Plasma cutter and that took a month to arrive. Then this year I bought a Unimig 250amp Mig and that took a month to arrive.

Good products but takes awhile to get them.

Edit: Low and behold I just got a shipped email.

I have some 2.4mm lanthanated rods on the way. Hope it comes with a 2.4mm collet. Then I will be able to make large amounts of bird poo tig welds.

The torch turned up and it did come with everything to start tig welding in a basic way. I did purchase a 2.4mm collet and holder at the local welding shop yesterday.

So I grabbed the first piece of metal I could find and ground it clean and stuck it together with a 2.5mm stick rod with the flux removed as filler.

Turns out I am a complete natural................................. At making crap welds
