weldsmart 2000ds parts
Can anyone tell me if it is at all possible to get replacement parts for the Weldsmart 2000ds as the Plastic shield/pressure wheel body over the wire feed area is broken.

Hi kimf,
Welcome to the MetalWork Forums,
Welcome to our MetalWork Forums.
We have a great bunch of members who are always ready to help a fellow member. If you update your location to Baulkam Hills on your profile page, members often happen to be living in a close by locality, or can sometimes advise on nearby locations were tools or items particular to our interests can be sourced or bought cheaper.
There plenty to look at by going to FORUM in the left top CNR and click FORUM HOME.
The page brought up scrolls down and shows the help pages and Sub Forum interests. Please read our TOUs Terms of Use at the top.
Don't forget to check out the sub forum and the Stickies with helpful information about the help pages and/or forums.
Spare parts for the wire drive : It doesn't look encouraging . Have you tried the agents? If this is the same mob it does not look real encouraging.

The only way forward might be self repair or obtain another new spare wire driver from someone like Bobthewelder
https://www.bobthewelder.com.au/Wire-Feeders/.
The drives are new and can be made to fit migs with the same problem.
I hope you are able to resolve your problem

If it's a part I'm thinking of, can post a clear picture of it, some of us might be able to make one out of aluminum or steel if you unable to find a replacement.
If I remember something about being new to the forum there is something about 10 posts before posting pictures, but Grahame might be able to help with that for you.Using Tapatalk

The ten post thing works at times but not others.
Post a pic if you like and I will fix it if auto moderation interferes.
No need to tell you now, but for guys who may be considering a Mig purchase, cone thing to check for, is the wire feed pressure roller assembly.
The cheaper the mig is , the cheaper the plastic that is used in it and the sooner it is likely to fail.
The better units use a polymer plastic that holds up, but how the hell do you do you tell?
The oils evaporate out of the plastic and it weakens over time.
DaveJ is correct, it is certainly possible to repair or re make an assembly.I don't believe you would need much more than basic tools.
Don't be afraid to have a go, there's plenty of help here.

Just to add, check him and check eBay, he buys out of China anyway.
He also advertises on eBay sometimes cheaper than his shop, if not other Chinese sellers will have the same part cheaper.
I've found lately eBay postage to be around a month or less, where AliExpress is cheaper but takes about 2 months.Using Tapatalk

OK Bobtheweld did have a wire feed unit that might work, but after looking at it and the fact that it had to be insulated from the body frame looked to be a no-go. I don't have the tools or a solution to make it work.
I've done some photos but can't send them as the system won't allow me to post them.
As graham said the plastic was fractured in multiple places, this was seen after dissembling it.
Has anyone the skills to mill plastic or a way that I can insulate fully the wire feed, as this is what the current plastic one does,

Contact Grahame with your pics, as he said he can fix it for you.

Without pictures and dimensions it's hard to say.
Do you have the appropriate dimensions?Using Tapatalk

You may need to get over 10 posts to post a picture.
Sounds large for using delrin or nylon, does it have to be fully insulated?
Or could to insulate it will a nylon spacer.
I know on my mig it's all steel, but would need to double check as it's been years since I looked at it, I use it at least every 2nd day, thinking about it, it could probably do with a service, lolUsing Tapatalk

Kimf's issues seem to be with the mounting of a new BobtheWelder driver, where the original mounts differently to the replacement.
One is side mounted at the other is bottom mounted.
The insulation can be anything even a sawn up kitchen cutting board from BigW will do.
The wire driver dimension from base to center line of the spool wire where it lines up with the gun cable entry will be the critical one through.
For my part I have sorted all approvals and now the OP should be clear to post photos and soon as he gets the photo sizing sorted.
