Default Help wanted for vice repair

I have a Dawn 4 1/2 vice which has two lumps of metal broken away from under the static jaw, presumably by the previous owner using the jaws as an anvil (grr). I'm hoping that a forum member in Melbourne with better welding skills and equipment than mine could build up the broken areas so that I can grind and file it back to shape. Happy to pay for materials and labour if anyone is interested.

Simplest method would be to build it up with bronze rod and reshape, is it only for aesthetics, personally strength wise I don't believe it make a lot of difference

Seems to be common, a vice here, that's an amalgam of a Dawn 5" cast iron and Carter semi steel is broken in the same area - I'd just carry on with life. If the defect is eating you up inside, I'd probably look for someone with an oven. I'd be interested to know what Dawn would charge for a new part.....they seemed to be singularly uninterested in any product support, last time I contacted them and one of their retailers had given them away entirely, which makes me think they're not long for this world.

    Default Vice repair

Yes, it's really just a cosmetic repair because the clamping force is unaffected. I think I've just spent too much time in the shed lately and seeing it like that has got to me
