No 4 oxy-acet welding tip cleaner?
I have a Tradeflame brand oxy-acetylene welding tip from Bunnings. It needs cleaning. The BOC tip cleaning set I have only goes down to size 6. The Tradefame cleaning kit at Bunnings also only goes down to size 6. You'd think Tradeflame would sell tip cleaners to clean their full range of tips. I haven't been able to find a set that goes down to size 4. Does anyone have any ideas how I might clean the tip? The hole is absolutely tiny.
Cheers.Chris

Just carefully use a fine needle, plus a fine file if required

Thanks, but the hole is quite a bit smaller than a pin.

Try a bristle from a wire brush. Big problem with tip cleaners that small is that they can break very easily, DAMHIKT.

My original CIG kit came with an optional (separate purchase) super fine tip cleaner set, but that was around 40 years ago.
These days I use this one, or one very much like it from the other side of the world.

Tips from 1 to 20 are catered for. You would have to be very careful with anything under number 4, I use a number four welding tip quite a lot. I clean it as sparsely as possible, otherwise it becomes a number five tip. But this should do the job for you.

Thanks Mick, I'll grab one of those. I like the #4 tip too. I used it to braze some sheetmetal last week with good results.
