[QUOTE=glivo;1985110]I realise this is an old thread, however, it is somewhat relevent to my question and was the only one to come up when I searched for Lincoln Tombstone.
My question is about the input voltage and current. I have come into possession of an old red Lincoln tombstone AC225 in fair condition. Like many on youtube the current selector switch needs attention. The input cable is not bigger than you'd expect for any home welder. It is fitted with a 10 amp plug but many people fit 10 amp plugs to welders that should use 15 amp or grind the wide pin. I'm not guilty of that.
The thing is that everything I've found regarding these welders is that they require input wiring, fuses and connectors for 220 Volts (240) rated at 50 amps. This charts to being AWG 6 copper wire and depending on the chart between 13.5 sq mm and 16 sq mm. I can't recall ever seeing twin and earth of this size used for anything and the supply line to my shed is 10 mm t&e from memory. 50 amps is above the total current for the entire shed including lights circuit.
My guess is to deal with a long cable run.
I've got long jumper leads . There real handy. There massive heavy cable.
