spot welding aluminium
Hi
Being a series 1 Land Rover nut, making up new aluminium bodywork panels is a must . But how to spot weld them as the factory did it
Problem solved . A chap who manufactures repro bodies for Land rovers showed me a handy trick. You take a normal steel spot welder - place a couple of thin stainless steel or galv. steel squares ( say 2 " square ) , between the electrodes and the aluminium panels and hit the go button . The aluminium panels are welded as good as new . I have seen the repro bodies myself, and they look perfect
