Thread: Using TIG power source for MIG welding

Yes there combination Tig and Mig welders but they are usuallally three phase industril units. Ive used one and the wire feeders are as the average home handy man mig welders take 10 kg rolls

A good Tig machine (3 phase) can be used as a power supply for a Mig no worries and some manufacturer's now supply universal systems where you just plug in whatever you want. I have used the Kempi (Migo-mag) machines a fair bit and the power supply is universal (Tig, Mig, Arc, Gouge, Plasma). Don't forget that a converter Tig will supply A/C for aluminium tig and DC for steels.
