    Default esab c200i caddy mig

I have seen this new caddy mig from esab on the net and was wondering if any one has seen it around. They have been in the US for a little while but only just been released in Australia. It appears to be the rival for the kemppi minarcmig 180 adaptive which has been a fairly good unit with a few teething issues. I have added a PDF link for viewing.http://www.esab.co.uk/gb/en/support/...liminary-2.pdf

No views, thoughts opinions from any body. I know that this mig welder is fairly new to OZ and there are a couple of welding stores that have got some stock and probally too soon for an opinion.

While I am not tooled up for stainless can offer photos of various things.. My criticisms of the unit are that the torch cable and handpiece are not easily detachable. The handpiece /torch itself has a bit of a lightweight toy feel about it, I feel you should get a bit more than that for your $2000. Changing a wire liner can be a bit of a challenge .You need little fingers and a big heart. Also check the wire spool. It's a friction contact inside the unit,in places, and does not have a good feel to it at times.Pull the spool out and refit and you will see what I mean. Also you need to be aware that some of the wire spools that you can buy thinking they will fit ,don’t being a fraction too big. Other than that no real faults other than the bloody mud wasp that laid his daub across the $400 circuit board. I now keep the machine in a carry bag I had made. Grahame Reply With Quote I cut and pasted this from another on this forum from grahame and maybe he can add a bit more to this thread. ...Grahame Collins's Avatar Grahame Collins Grahame Collins is offline Welding Technologist Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Mackay Qld Posts: 2,396 Grahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond reputeGrahame Collins has a reputation beyond repute Default Quote: Originally Posted by cockroach View Post sorry to dig this thread up guys, i am loking for a welder right now and would like to know if everyone that owns a kemppi 180mig is happy with how its going? was it worth the $2000 price tag? and how does it go welding 10mm plate? thanks for any help james Hi james , With me its a love /hate thing. I am dirty on it because a mud wasp laid a nest across a circuit board and it cost $400 to fix. The unit works extremely well but so it should for the money you will pay. Before you commit to buy ask to be allowed to change a liner on a demo unit. This is a common procedure and on most migs is reasonably straight forward but not on the Kemppi. That may change your mind. I am not too happy with the quality of the entire wire feed system-more comments from me about it in this very thread - just scroll back. If you have got $2000 or so it could be spend on a machine that is more cost effective, honestly I could not recommend the Kemppi on that level. Its a matter of listing the comparative features of what you need to have against what the Kemppi offers. If it is just a general mig you could buy a far cheaper machine and still afford a top quality AD helmet like an Optrel or Speedglaas with the left over change. Just an opinion for what little it is worth. Grahame Reply With Quote

So has anyone actually used one of these yet? All reports suggest they are a brilliant machine, yet I haven't heard this from any actual owners.
