Hi All, well here is the first rebuilt back gear that we have finished
We have machined a piece of black thick wall bar and bored it to suit the machined down damaged large gear
The blank has been heated and fitted onto the back gear
It was then put in the lathe and machined to size
then was set up on the mill with a dividing head and tailstock
Where the new gear was machined onto the blank so as to get the right size

NOW what is it worth ?? As by the time from go to whoa is about 1/2 a day I now have a paint free rebuilt back gear and wonder what you reckon it may be worth as if we work on Toolmakers rates it will rust away waiting for a sale

So can anybody shed anylight on what or if the backgears are available and price and the next question is is anybody interested in a rebuilt back gear ????

all the best Derek

Looks good Derek! The pics are not the best but it looks like it turned out quite good. I suppose they are probably worth the same as a good used gear would be, whatever that is. Should be able to get an idea from ebay tho.
