Dear All,

I mentioned previously in another thread that I had been making something based on a catalogue image. The catalogue was one of a number of Hercus catalogues collected by Hercus owner, Steve Brennan.

Steve very kindly provided me with a CD of his scanned collection and has also given me permission to post the catalogues on this forum.

Just to be on the safe side, I phoned Steve Durden at F W Hercus to ensure that there was no copyright infringement involved.

The catalogues scanned are for the following machines -

Early 9 " Lathe

Later 9" including AR and Craftsman

260 T Lathe

260 Belt Drive Back Geared + Geared Head Lathes

260 Geared Head Lathe Model AG and DG

260 Lathe Attachments

No. O Plain Horizontal Milling Machine

No. 1 Universal Tool and Cutter Grinder

No. 3 Surface Grinding Machine.

I've attached the scans of the 260 Attachments catalogue to, maybe, whet some appetites.

If there is any interest in this material, I can post the other scans.

Regards Bob.

Hello Gene,

Each of the original scanned pages is about 6MB in size.

What do we do now?

I only learnt how to resize these images yesterday thanks to a post from Derek where he thanked you for putting him onto the VSO Image Resizer.

Regards Bob.

Hi Bob,

Assuming you have this material on your computer, what are our chances of obtaining a complete copy on a CD, with your friend's permission of course?

I'd be more than happy to pay you or Steve for your time and postage, and I'm sure other members would feel the same.

At this point, I would like to hear from any other member that has any Hercus literature. You might have started something here Bob, that will teach you.

Well done for your Thread,

Ken

Hi Bob, what are the chances of having the pages scanned and emailed to anybody who wants to give you their email address???

mine is [email protected]

As if you can send the contentds of the CD to Me I can pass it on to the others so long as you have a scanner ???

all the best Derek

I would be very grateful to get the 9" catalogue files. If there aren't too may pages I think they could be emailed. If you would consider sending these to me I would be happy to pass them along to others interested so u don't end up sending out a hundred emails.

Good Morning,

I have sent in 3 separate emails, the full size scans of of the 260 Attachments Catalogue to both Derek and Gene because I have their email addresses. I have an attachment size limit of 20mb..... Well Gene wont receive the message because I just received this...
"The original message was received at Wed, 31 Dec 2008 09:11:25 +1030 (CST)from ipmail04.adl2.internode.on.net [203.16.214.57] ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----<[email protected]> (reason: 552 Message limit exceeded 23344050>20971520) ----- Transcript of session follows -----... while talking to bep.internode.on.net.:>>> MAIL From:<[email protected]> SIZE=23344050<<< 552 Message limit exceeded 23344050>20971520554 5.0.0 Service unavailable "It's looking like the CD option might be the only way to proceed. I can't pursue this option until I'm back at work next week.Regards Bob

Dear All,

I've had my daughter's boyfriend Nik compress the catalogues into ZIP files and upload them to RapidShare

Here is the first link which should feature the 9 inch lathe catalogues. The RapidShare site tells me that this can only be downloaded 10 times then it will be cancelled.

http://rapidshare.com/files/178356387/9-inch_lathe_catalogues_-_Hi-res.zip.html

Could someone please be kind enough to let me know if this works.

If there is a problem it may be a better option for me to create a copy of the scanned catalogue CD and post it to someone better versed at these things than myself.

Bob.

I have downloaded them Bob, the file size is 140MB, the pictures have been scanned at a very high resolution...and the pics themselves are massive...

I have batch processed them and shrunk them down to 7MB total...

Hello Al,

If it's worked according to plan, the other files are scans for the 260 lathes and their attachments, the milling machine, the T + C grinder and the surface grinder.

Mornin' all,

Happy New Year to everyone.

Any chance of some details of what the files contain, or are they all based on the 9" precision lathe?

In fact, have just read the post properly, and you've already said. Silly me!
