Does anyone know of anywhere I can hire the use of a lathe from time to time?

I don't want to buy a lathe as I don't need it that often.

Any thoughts or offers would be welcome.

You might be able to come up to the mountains and use mine from time to time. 4' IXL lathe. 6" centre height. Most tooling for general stuffing about hobby type work.

Why don't you just walk around the local industrial area and get talking to the bods in some workshops.
What work are you doing??????
Tooling for your particular work could be an issue, as could OH&S requirements.

Hi

Try attending a night school class on machining or similar.

I have tried to find some night classes but no luck in locating anything in Sydney.

Hi

I wasn't really clear enough in my last message. What I meant was the kind of class they hold for apprentices. A couple of years ago I attended a Fitting and Machining course at one of the TAFE colleges.

I already have a certificate in fitting and machining. If I completed the term and sat for the exam, I would have gained less qualifications than I already have, BUT it did provide me with access to some wonderful equipment including a milling machine with a five foot long table.

So, see if you can find an apprenticeship type course that is available at a time you can attend. :D
