I am a novice with the lathe but I recently acquired a Sheraton, 9" model A. The aim is to teach myself how to use it. It is in well used condition. The bed does not seem too worn but some of the gearbox gears are showing signs of use. The screw which holds the clutch handle in place is broken. I believe this is a left hand threaded screw. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Are you referring to the feed selector knob or is there a clutch for the spindle, if it is the knob you are referring to for the feed clutch a Hercus screw may fit.

Colin, welcome to the forums.

I have never seen a manual for the Sheraton, but a 9 A is very similar to a Hercus 9 A, or a SouthBend.

1) You can identify the parts from the Hercus spare parts manual

(or attached here)

2) Mal has many Hercus spares that will fit https://australianmetalworkinghobbyist.com

3) The Hercus "Textbook of turning"

has many helpful tips

Thanks for the tip. I have been able to order the bits needed from him.
