Just don't get a hernia lifting that machine ! It looks like at least 100Kg.

Yes he has, and all credit to him, no I won't be lifting it is staying right were it is ( it is on wheels now ) it weighs 77kilos.
The less than perfect paint job is my contribution.

My daughter is into jewellery and has a rolling mill and I have been thinking of motorising it. Could you tell me what the motor and gearbox unit is on yours? It looks to be what I am envisaging.

Peter I will take a pic of the label tomorrow, the label on the gearbox is a bit hard to access now it is on the bottom of the unit, I am pretty sure the label on the motor label has the all the same info
it is a 3ph SEW Euro-drive, they don't come cheap I was fortunate that my mate had one from a job that never happened so I got it for nearly half price.
Although I have 3ph it runs from a VFD as it is simple convenient way to control speed etc while still maintaining torque.

I picked up a rolling mill for my daughter years ago as she was doing work experience with a friend of my wife who is a jeweller. She seemed a bit interested at the time?
Anyhow it sat in the shed unused for years, the cast legs went to a mate for his Ewheel.
My son who is a sparky started scoring large left over cable.
We made a basic stripper with a piece of square tube and a hard screw.
Pulling the cable thru that was very hard work, but he got $800 plus for scrap.
He then gets a heap more and asks about a stripper.
He bought a hard wheel online and I modded the rolling mill in the old Macson.
Cut the lower roller into steps and cut teeth in them with an angle grinder.
Works well, $2000 last lot at the scrapyard.
If he gets more we’d better motorise it.
