Found this in an email and thought it was a handy idea.

A stop for cutting small parts on a bandsaw.

For someone who has run out of ideas to do in the shed LOL, a shop made Tool and Cutter attachment for a grinder. This is part one video.

I am investigating the backlash observed in the X-axis movement on my turret mill.
A DTI on the non-drive end of the screw shows more that 0.1 mm movement when jogged slowly in both directions.
I think the bearing is a 6207-2ZR.

Any suggestions on a new bearing selection that would exhibit less axial end-float ?

Keep well,
John.

Hi. I had to/wanted to make some tiny plastic parts with features I could not machine from sold.
These are gauge knobs for odometers and clocks of 38 year old Honda CX500 turbo motorbikes....
The two knobs are 10mm diameter and 11mm and 6mm high respectively, with an internal D-shaped hole and 36 triangular shaped knurling on the periphery.
Thinking of the resolution of my little 3D filament printer made it much too coarse.
But I've been reading a lot about SLA resin printers lately. So I bit the bullet and bought a small one.
That's a whole new ballgame! Resolution is down to 10s of microns....
So I had a go at these knobs at 50micron resolution and here is the results. In the hand they look perfect, but the photos show that the resolution is actually still visible! The difference with SLA printing is that the area printing bears no relationship to the speed. It doesn't care if it prints one pixel or the whole build plate full. Only the number of layers determines the time it takes.
So I filled it up... 11mm high - 2020 layers which took 1hour...
This is the printer:

The photos show the printer test (pretty impossible to make any other way), my first 'knob' print job and a close-up of the originals in the foreground with my replicas behind them.
I'll experiment with tiny parts a bit more in time....https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200905/5af528cd53a5d5e802f561860b2630bf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200905/25f90ade530d56aa78d10b4ab5776d4f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200905/0d6845a19f8885a7e0230365575b63d8.jpg
