I don't know of a list manufacturing dates for Sheratons. Of the list of 60 machines I have only one owner had a date of manufacture. If anyone has original paperwork with a machine we would eventually be able to at least approximate YOM. I know 240 was made in October 1977.

I was wondering the same thing about the Sheraton C model that I'm rebuilding; it's S/No. C 489. Unfortunately I have no original data with it. I'm surprised that they were still being built in the 1970's; I had thought it was 50's or 60's or thereabouts.

Don't know, the information was supplied by the owner. Until there is more data, I can't be sure of anything. The only site I have found with any information is lathes UK and although very useful, is not always completely accurate. His information on Hercus history has several errors, confirmed to me by Peter Hercus before his death. I have emailed him the corrected information but have received no response. I haven't been able to get the same level of feedback about George Sheraton. There seem to be quite a few Sheratons without serial numbers, which makes it hard to know how many were made.

I have just bought a Sheraton 9A. 42” bed (were they all 42”?). The bed has lots on marks but very little wear. It came on a crude but heavily constructed base with pulley shields, so I am thinking an ex school machine. Serial number A739.

It was sitting in a shed for the last 35 years apparently.

Hello Roger. Do you have a photo or two of your machine? Mine, though a 9C, is covered in the heavy cast iron guards also. I had broken it down into large lumps since purchase a few months ago & have been restoring it one section at a time. Many hours per week...

Here are a few pics. It came with extra guards and a bench that were made afterward. I left those with the seller. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200917/9cd2c26f22835d1c0a9f7a9c1676b4ef.jpg
