If there are any "machinery sympathetic" transport operators here, I have a bridgeport mill clone to go from Cairns to rural Biggenden.
There are loading facilities both ends.
I am willing to contribute to costs.

I have used Land transport for moving machinery in the past

https://www.landtransport.com.au/depots/

They work on pallet size with 1 ton weight allocation I think it is. I moved a Bridgeport clone from Tamworth to Toowoomba and costs were very reasonable. They don't do tail lifts or anything. It's forklift on, forklift off, so if you don't have one may need to get it dropped somewhere that does. I don't have a forklift so I got it taken to the depot and used a tilt tray to get it home. They have a depot in Cairns then it's probably Gladstone or Rockhampton as closest for the other end. Might be worthwhile checking price to your door and just to the depot as the last leg is likely expensive unless they are coming that way already and might be cheaper to get a smaller local operator to do the last bit.

Tip for making it easy to move, put it on a pallet (a must for most bulk carriers), drop the knee as low as it will go, tip the head upside down to lower overall height, if it's got a riser might even be best to take that out and sit it on the table. Remove handles, ect and put them in a box strapped to the table. The trick is to make it just like any other cargo / freight and you remove the "machinery" tax.

Thanks for that. I have requested a quote door to door from them.
I think if I have to go to Gladstone to collect it, I might as well keep going to Cairns. :D
There are forklifts at both ends.
