Probably get a shaper vise for that.

Add you two numbers together and you can have this one, with a Vise also.

Would it please be possible to change your location from Australia to Newcastle Please. More for your benefit than ours, if you are after a certain product, we could tell you to get it from a place in Perth, which would be a waste of time because you're not there, or if you need a hand with something, someone close by could help you.

I saw one go for $400 today. Missed out by || that much.

I did some googling and found it was about the going rate for a douglas?

It's about the going rate at large auctions and the occasional place who don't know what it is for.
But, you are right. Some of us paid about that amount (I paid $140, for example) - and then spent more than that on transport ($350 in my case) and another $100 for a vice, and refurbishing electrics and belts and bearings.... So mine is worth about $800 to me now.
I go along with stevejw66: good luck.
Keep looking in the eBay thread here. Sometimes interesting things are found by other members who alert all of us - if they are not interested themselves.
Oh, and welcome to the forum. :2tsup:

Thanks man! I have more time than money so waiting for Gumtree/Ebay/FB Market finds are kind of thing, ha ha. Still bummed about that shaper. Holding out that the sale falls through, but I'm not holding my breath.

there's a Douglas at this auction. Looks like some great stuff there. it looks like a older model, and may have some of the original drive missing. I am not likely to get there but it would be nice. Probably worth the drive by the look of all the gear that is there.

I think my shed is absolutely shambolic, but after looking at that I'm feeling much better.

Missing the ratchet pawl mechanism and pushrod for the horizontal feed.

If anyone here actually ends up buying that shaper, I currently have my Douglas in bits so I can draw up those components if required!

Look what I have just found!!!!!
It's small & it's in the price range you're after!
It appears to be a custom build but it appears to be very well made. Looks to be made out of plate sections fitted & all hand scraped rather than cast sections!
The bloke selling it seems to be a machinery dealer, he might be able to freight it for you!
