Hi all,
To complement my gradually increasing collection of valve grinding tools I'm looking for three old engine valves. I display the valve grinders at car shows I attend with the HTPSWA and sometimes get the feeling that the viewer doesn't quite understand how they work. If I had one each of the three types of valve (that I'm aware of) it would make things clearer. They are the slot head, the one with two holes and plain. The only part that has to be in reasonably good condition is the upper face as I will probably mount them in a block of wood and would need to be able to engage the tool with the valve for a demo' of how it works.
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Hi Geoff, any chance of some pics of the valves you're looking for please? I punched in slot head valve in Google and it came up with tyre valve caps!!!!
Just so we know what we're looking at for you.

Type "Engine Valves" into google and you'll see lots of them.

Kryn I can't post any pics because I haven't seen them for years. Luckily for us Jhovel posted those links, thanks mate. I've asked a couple of friends who are connected to the old machinery fraternity over here so thought a post here might get a result.
For what I have in mind only the upper surface needs to be in reasonable condition the underneath and stem can be quite ratty, past their use by date.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Hi Geoff, have asked a mate that is in a Automobile Collectors Club here, to ask around if anyone has something that will do the job for you.

Ask a local engine reconditioner for some old valves ...

Went to the AVVVA swap-meet at Northam today and was successful at picking up three valves. All plain surface but should be able to cut slot in one and two holes in another.
Happy camper.
Cheers Geoff.
