Hi Steve,
Sounds as if you are not sure how the chuck fits to the spindle.
My Tough bench drill has a male Jacobs taper on the end of the spindle that fits into the chuck, and has a circular threaded collar on the spindle above the chuck, used to push the chuck off the taper. It is possible that your drill is different.

youll need to know what jacobs taper it has, here is a chart https://littlemachineshop.com/reference/tapers.php

Im sure someone over that way will have a chuck rattling around, otherwise a cheapie from aliexpress would probably do you okay.

FYI my Tough has a No 6 Jacobs taper.
