G'Day,
I recall seeing a detailed article on the web which outlined a hobbyist who was making replica bronze Etruscan horses - the article covered the whole process including the wax master, the molding and casting, then the finishing and patina.
now that I need to give a reference to that article to someone else, do you think I can find it?
Does anyone have a link to that article? pretty please with sugar on top?
thanks,
Des

Hi Des, from memory I think it was in MEW or You Tube, it was cast in sections tig welded together, cleaned, polished and then something was put over it to add the patina.
I remember seeing/reading it, not that long ago. Looked on Google but nothing there.

Kryn

Kryn,
I'm 99% sure I saw it on the web as a page - maybe 4-6 years ago. The guy was making the horses about 200mm high, one piece construction, and they were being sold in a museum giftshop.
This is one case where google is really letting me down... usually I can find things if I have the right search terms, but I'm really striking out.
I need the article to help someone out with the molding elements... and I'm trying to get a copy of the article for my own use in the patina space.
It's only another 6-12 months and I'll have my shed usable... and I've already got 2-3 casting projects waiting in the wings.
Thanks,
Des
