my lathe,s Lathe compound angle indicator is worn out and am trying to find a new one ,any idea where to start looking ?

photo 1 is when i GOT the lathe photo 2 is when I washed it with kero, now shiny

I'd start by talking to Hare & Forbes as they may have a spare part for that or a similar lathe.
Failing that, if you measure the diameter and do the calculations, you may be able to make up/ engrave a strip of metal that will indicate for you

Once you do the calcs, a stainless steel strip could be laser engraved.

Another alternative is to use a sine bar and gauge blocks to set it up and sweep with an indicator.

You can then scribe a few of the common angles. You don't often use the ones in between but you could do a few as required.

It would also be more accurate. I've done a few less common tapers like that and they blued up nicely.
