Hi all,

Trying to find out what type of connector the following is on this Control Techniques Commander SE VFD, as the connector is missing. I found a photo online of what it should look like. It's 14 pin and 5.00mm pitch. Anyone happen to know? Also best place to buy from"

Thanks

Isn't there a pic attached?

There is, but there's no indication of where on the picture the plug is.

I'm guessing it's the black plug buried down in the guts of the VFD?

I read your post as that you'd found a pic of the actual plug on line?

Do any of those o the link I posted look right?

It's shown in the picture as a 14 pin plug. You can see it numbered 1 to 14 with the screw terminals. That part is removable. It's a single row 14 terminal strip. That white thing is the part i'm missing. There is also a 2 pin version right above it labeled 15 16.

Unfortunately those links you posted are nothing like it. Those look like they are setup for ribbon cables similar to a computer.

OK What about these?

The connections are at 90º but they still might work.
You might have to use 2 of then to get the 14 connections.

How about a photo of your VFD with the missing connector? ie what's there for the connector to grab hold of?

I have a heap of those green connectors at home and they do fit. But because the connector is 90 degrees the cover won't close due to clearance issues. That white connector is probably the same type but in the wrong configuration. Will post a pic soon.

The connector would just be a press fit.

Sorry. You need the ones called 270º or is it 180º, the Jaycar and Altronics are called right angle or 90º pluggable connectors.

They will be somewhere on this site - https://www.digikey.com.au/products/en/connectors-interconnects/terminal-blocks-headers-plugs-and-sockets/370 I have already wasted 30 minutes phaphing around on it.

Yeah looks like it will be a 180. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2EDGKB-5-08-09P-Pluggable-terminal-block-plug-female-5-08mm-2-5mm2-x1-pieces/162719641245?hash=item25e2d8ae9d:g:uuMAAOSwQS1Z6fe6

Just need to check out clearance issues as the white one may be lower profile.

Thanks Joe, that looks like it would work. It's a shame about the $24 dollar postage charge for a $3.50 part. Though if you spend over $60 you get free postage. Might be able to find a few more things to add to the list...

BobL: Also thanks for trying to help me identify what it was too.

That one won't work as the wires are coming up (clearance issue) wires need to come out from the sides.

Use two of these

They will be too tall for his setup.
