This is a interesting wartime movie:

The little water trucks are MWC Bedfords, they are finished in the Caunter camoflage scheme.

Thanks for the film clip, quite interesting as to how things were done back then.
I can imagine a little kid asking Grandad "What did you do during the war Grampa?"
"I painted stripes and colours on the trucks, so they couldn't be seen"

Looks like a Ford XY panel van that has been painted in the current Aust. army camo scheme !
The army did use XY utes but not sure about if they ever used panel vans. I took these pics of a genuine ex army XY/XW ute at a car show a few years back. Much rarer than a WW2 Jeep. over 600,000 made, probably less than 100 of these utes were made for the army.
