Upcycled junk - a new welding trolley

My darling Pam is most distressed by my visible collection of "junk" around the place - some of the time...

So I was thinking about reducing it a bit and get rid of some less likely to be used stuff.
But as I was foraging through it, I suddenly 'saw' a new welding trolley in the 'junk'....
A few mental sketches, some frantic bandsaw activity - and the left-overs of a dismantled treadmill turned into something useful, made from unlikely bent oval and semi-circular sections an some round pipe tubing.
This was all thin-walled stuff and intersections difficult to make accurately. So I oxy welded the lot (I'm quite handy at neatly bridging 12mm gaps with the oxy - not so with stick or Mig). Took me on and off maybe 10 hrs over two weeks. It's even got a rack for angle grinders :)
Here is the progress. A couple of brackets and hooks here and there for cables, slag hammers and masks to go, and some rubber straps to be fitted to stop welder and plasma cutter jumping off....

Hi Joe, our Pams must be related, because mine complains about my "junk" also. It's a different story though, if she wants something made out of it!!!!
Fantastic work on the welding trolley, suprising what a bit of paint will do to make something look fantastic.:2tsup: Don't know if you've tried this or not, for joining onto rounded sections I use holesaw bits in the size as close as possible to the tube, it's just a matter of opening it up a bit more with a grinder or belt.

You are quite right about the hole saws - I so that when I can.
In this case, I had to semi-circular tube inside a oval (actually elongate round cross-section) and round (handle) tube. That took a bit of fiddling with the angle grinder.... You can see in the unpainted photos where I had to weld. The bottom joints were already welded in the treadmill. That was the bit that gave me the idea.

Now I'll have to have another look at the junk to see what else I can see there :)
The junk on the other side of the shed already has all the part of a 30 ton press among them, I noticed....

I showed the pic of your 'junk pile' to my darling wife,and now she's a lot more accepting of my tiny heap of steel offcuts.

Kewl trolley Joe. as my Grandsons would say. I like the paint job too,very sporty.
I have to disagree about the term junk though.
Junk indeed. Really now!
I do prefer pre-used stock items awaiting repurposing.

My wife has a downer on junk.

There must be certain insight among some of us who are to see the makings of a useful object in pre -used stock items.

Nice work Joe. That's bloody awesome. In an effort to reduce my junk pile (mostly hidden behind my shed) I skull dragged the reminents of 3 (yes three) treadmills to scrap metal. The land behind us is vaccant paddock but is now being developed into acre lots and a nursing home and so my hidden pile of junk will not doubt be noticed some time in the future....

Wonderful piece of work. Up-cycle is the best way to go at times.
You did a fabulous job and after paint looks store bought.
