Hi from Sydney.
I was a maintenance fitter for over 30 years - made redundant in 2009.
Now I'm only working a few days a week in slightly different field.

For most of my life I had access to lathes and mills and I could do my own little jobs
but since 2009 I have missed the ability to machine parts that I want.

In December 2016 I bought a BF20L mill and have just ordered AL-320G lathe.

At least my garage will not only be full of junk

Hi Steve
Welcome to the forum.I feel you will fit in here well.

Please take the opportunity to ask questions and help other blokes who need help as well.
You will find much more than machining here.

We have a great bunch here who are always willing to lend a hand.

Please look out for a PM from me with further information about operating in the Forum.

Hi Stephanie,
Welcome to our Metalwork Forums.

It is usual generally, for new members who post first time in the Welcome wagon to introduce themselves.

We would like to get to know you. Do you have a metalworking background or have you joined us to learn about the hobby?

Either way, we have some very talented and knowledgeable folks here who can help a lot.

How about putting down a few lines about yourself in the context of what you would like to achieve through the Metalwork Forum.

As with all the new members, I am PM-ing you some links to help you operate better within the Forum.

Welcome again.

Grahame

There are a few handy tweaks that will improve the AL 320G. The search function here should point you in the right direction. Welcomr to the forum!

Hi to all - again
Hello Stephanie,
I did do foreign orders but the majority of them came from managers and line foremen.
Work always came first but as a maintenance fitter, I did have a few quiet times.
I was there 30 years so they must have been happy with me.
Hello Tiprat,
I have extensively researched the AL320G and already have done the feed lever mod.
I am in the process of fitting a foot brake.
Also I am slowly building up lathe tooling and have a wedge type QCTP on order.
