View Full Version : Polycarbonate Caravan Window Flexing

I have a Millard caravan that has been in situ for about 40 years with the rear window facing the setting sun.
The sealing rubber was severely deteriorated and needed replacing.

Unfortunately, the inevitable happened during the rubber replacement and a piece of 3 mm polycarbonate was purchased to fill in the hole.

Got the job done, but the flex in the installed window is alarming !
I am concerned that a severe wind-storm might simple blow it in.
The window is 1500 x 500.

Am I being too concerned ?
What options could I consider to reduce the risk ?
Are supplementary strips glued on the inside a practicable fix ?

Thanks in advance for any comments and/or advice,
John.

Sorry, no pictures for a couple of weeks.

I spoke to the glazier that sold me the rubber beading.
He said almost impossible to blow the poly window in.
But, to be sure, just lift the rubber off the poly with a paint scraper and apply some black silicon sealant - use a type that sets.
He suggested a cloth with kero would clean up any spillage on the poly.
