View Full Version : Need help identifying this cold saw.

Hi,
I bought this today and am looking for a manual to pull it apart to give it some TLC however I'm not 100% sure exactly what it is.
Any help is greatly appreciated

The motor name plate has a model designation for an AEG motor. Based on that I looked up German Cold Saws and came up with Haberle as a brand. It will depend on age and blade size, but it looks much like a Haberle H 250

Came with 5 x 300 blades. There is no on off switch or speed switch at all.

It's got a general resemblance to the Haberle line of saws - with a 12" blade it would be a H300. I would send off a few pictures to them and see what their thoughts are, remembering that previous owners may have modified it for some reason and that the design may have changed over the years, so the switch box on top could be a relatively recent addition. I've got some gear that the manufacturers said that yes it is one of theirs and can approximately date it but is a superseded design and can't supply much in the way of information.

I was actually leaning towards the brobo. Can you tell the blade speed from the motor tag? I'll be getting a vfd. Once I work out which one. I'll be cutting mostly 16mm bright bar and NB tube. Not much else.

Im pretty happy about getting it.

Motor speed is 1390 revs per minute but there is a gear box in the way and I don't know the ratio.

Turns out to be a Brobo super 300 from the late 70's ish (re badged Haberle). They said it should be a 2 speed unit however someone has modified it and rotated the motor 90deg. I'm going to fit a vfd so any kind of switch is really irrelevant.
