I have been trying to fix a leaky water pump in my old Chevy truck..... tried lots of kits with limited success.
I decided to try a new approach . I bought a NOS good quality bearing ( the bearings available now are Asian crap )
The grease had dried up in the NOS bearing, I drilled a hole into it and pumped in high temp . grease , filled it right up .
The old carbon seals are OK if you use the vehicle a lot, but leave them for a few months and they weep .

I opted for a modern mechanical seal . Bored out the pump housing . Its been in use 6 months now, been performing great .
