G'day everyone,
I’m a member of the Renovate Forum and the kind members there suggested that I check this forum out for some specialty information and advice. I’ve had a look through a lot of the welding section, but more on that a bit later.

A little bit about me.

I’m 44 years old, married with 2 kids and I live on the South Coast of NSW.
I did a 1 year electrical pre-apprenticeship course through TAFE in 1988 after I left school. The buzz phrase going around the industry at that time was ‘breaking down the cross trade barriers’, so there were components of fitting and machining, as well as boiler making as part of my course.

My dad was an ace fitter and turner and he taught me how to oxy weld (among other things) when I was in high school. As part of the
pre-apprenticeship course I learned how to oxy weld and cut, Arc and MIG weld. I missed out on the TIG lesson due to a job interview.
I got a sparky apprenticeship at the RAAF base at Williamtown and completed my trade training, along with 2 years of post-trade industrial electronics training. I then moved on to Sydney to do electronic fire and security systems for two and a half years before I quit and joined the public service, where I've been ever since.

Sadly enough, I never touched any welding gear since doing my pre-apprenticeship, so I would say that I’m well and truly past being rusty on my welding skills.

I’ve just about got my shed finished and I’m looking at buying my first ever welder to do some projects, but I’ll whack up another post about that.

I think that’s enough rambling from me. Thanks for having me aboard and I’m sure that I’ll be seeking lots of advice and guidance from your collective wisdom.
All the best,
Steve.

Welcome to the forum. We tend to do a lot of rambling. Well I do anyway. :D

Just remembe the number 1 rule here. If there are no pictures then it didn't happen. We love pictures.

Welcome Steve
I'm very confident that any questions you have can be answered (although you will probably answer more than you ask) and you'll no doubt have some fun on the way.
Like Dean said, no pics then it didn't happen:D

Thanks Dean,
I’ll try to remember to overcome my embarrassment and put some pics up and wait for the ‘critiques’.

Thanks Phil,
I don’t know how good I’ll be on the answers, but I’ll give it a crack, I’m sure I’ll have plenty of questions though.

Welcome to the forum Steve.
Thanks ‘old1955’.
