I was given this old drill which had been sitting in a 44gal drum of scrap steel and being outside was also 50% water.

There us a small piece broken at the top, and the wood has gone from rhe handle.

The spindle is quite bent as you can see about a 4mm deviation. Once I got it all free and turning the spindle has to be screwed out by cranking fir tge full length of the thread. The bend in the spindle lead to it binding and I put to much force on the crank handle and it broke.

I don't want to weld or braze it really as I'd like the repair not to show. I was wondering if silver solder would work? I'd like to get the drill operating even if it can't be used to drill a hole.
I have its big brother which looks the same but twice the size or more. It be nice to have them mounted next to each other.
