Welcome aboard Ryan!
Do you mean a replica Ford GT40 or have you got parts of an original???
Tell us a bit more about it: are you building the body, mechanicals, interiour - all of it?
What does a rail engineer do these days?
Looking forward to your stories and photos!

It's a replica. I'm building from scratch, have the body thus far. Need to start on chassis.

No progress on that of late as I have been converting a Sheraton CUB 600 from 3ph to single.

Where should I start a diary about that?

In the Metalwork Projects sub forum. How hard is it to convert? Buy a suitable VFD, connect it up and go. Why are you converting it?

I only have single phase on the house.
I have the VFD and it's running. Just finishing the details

So you are retaining the 3ph motor. Good. There are many threads on the forum about setting up VFD's. Not suggesting you don't know what you are doing, just that there are many different setups and ideas to look at. Mine is one of them, but don't get the idea I am an expert. Far from it.

Have fun.

Hi Ryan, tell us more about your job mate.

I have been in the railway signalling game for the last 10 years. Done a few jobs/projects in SA and NSW however it's been predominantly Melbourne metropolitan stuff.

So, design during the week, a few weeks preparing for installation. Coordinating with the operators so that they stop the trains for long enough to allow the team to do the changes. Then it's normally go go go after the last train on a Friday night until it's done.

Then repeat for the next project/job/location.

So your likely to find me next to the tracks at 0430....

Thanks Grahame.

still looking through all the threads getting a feel for the place.
I will try and get a thread started on my lathe during the week.
I see the sponsor adds on the side, can I ask how this place is funded?

regards Ryan

Hi Ryan and welcome to a top forum. When you do your GT40, we like to see WIP (Work In Progress) pics, these can be placed in Auto Restoration please, we all want to see how it's done.
