All that work to make a bomb carrying tool that had a few hours life expectancy.
They do sound nice though...

Back in the 1970's I met a chap by chance while I was down in Tasmania . Anyway this guy gave me a lift into town and he was a real character , he was also the author of many books on fishing . His name was David Scholes and during WW2 he was a pilot , flying Lancaster bombers from the UK . I later on found out that, at the age of 21, he had won the DFC for bringing home a badly shot up Lanc, he managed to crash land the thing and it broke in half on the runway. All of his crew were unharmed which was a miracle. He later on published a book based on his wartime diary . Mike

Thanks for the video Mike, would you happen to know the name of the book, as it sounds like a good read. Apparently that was a common occurrence, landing them and then breaking up after having been shot full of holes.
