Hi all

im back at work ... 😁

When not workin I've been flat out trying to find tyres .. Thought it would be easier after all a tyre is. A tyre ..

looking for a 440 x 10 .. Yep that's a small tyre .. Split rim and bolts not studs .. Got to luv them Germans ... The old ones I have are Dunlop 440 s but not road worthy.. Not made any more..

Give up they don't make them any more ... So I think I've found a 450 x 10 ... Or a motor bike tyre ... This is a slightly larger tyre ...

Randal, you might have a very good chance to get tyres from India. Some of the motor rickshaws use 10" wheels and their tyres come in several different widths. If you need help sourcing from there, I have contacts.
However, I also found this: http://www.classictyres.com/item/21/440-10--440x10--trelleborg-hi-speed-trailer-tyre--road--t690--tube-type
other than that, there are some 10" boat trailers around, but I have no idea what the tyre width or outer diameter is. Of course there are plenty of scooters with 10" wheels, but their tyres are usually a bit too rounded for your use....

Hi Randal,

You must have seen this? :http://www.goggomobil.com/catalog/catalog.html

What did they say when you phoned them, must have been good for a laugh : http://www.ktas.com.au/tyres/goggomobil/t300/

These guys have them: http://www.vintagetyres.com/item/103/440-10--440x10--trelleborg-hi-speed-trailer-tyre--road--t690--tube-type

Don't know if you have tried Antique Tyres (http://www.antiquetyres.com.au) in Melb or what your size tolerance is, but they have a 480-10 and 520-10 auto tyres listed if that is any use. Page above has a nifty Search by Size function.

Hi all
It took a while but I'm there ... I found a supplier of the 440s .. Price around $180 to 200 delivered

I also found the 450 -10 will fit and is available in Aust .. Slightly bigger in dia so the speed will show faster than is really travelling. No drama

Also found a motor bike type 120/90 - 10.. These are rounded and look nice. Sitting down. Price $75 fitted and tubes. I'll have to check with my road worthy mate if they will pass as well as speed load capacity .. Considering the Goggo max speed is 50 mph and only weighs 380 kg it might be ok.

I'm worried the different slightly different dia tyres will cause issues with the two strokes power range/torque at different gears .. Considering she's a 300 cc there's not much spare .. Normally I'd just experiment but the cost is the factor .

Bigger dia will make the speed read lower.

That's right .. I called a bloke who has tried larger and the speedo of course is different ..

while i I guess most cars won't worry with a small change the Goggo has low HP and the box and revs matched ... I'm told the car will need retuning ...

I sourced a trailer tyre .. The 440 is approx 170-175 mm od .. The trailer tyre is 185mm

This site explains it fairly well ..

Hi Randal,
I doubt that the bit of difference in tyre size would make much difference to the motor, I used to own an LJ50 Suzuki. It had a powerhouse 3 cylinder motor 540cc, it ran 6.00 X 16 tyres, the previous model was the LJ 20 which had a whopping 360cc in a 2 cylinder and ran the same size tyre, admittedly the gearing was different to yours. Two stroke Suzukis have one of the best power to weight ratio around, so do all the other 2 strokes that I know of, which is why they are used in chainsaws, garden equipment, motor bikes, aircraft etc.

Hi all
After much churning I got a 145R10 refer pick .. This tyre fits and is a radial .. And the price $98 fitted with new tube and balanced. That beats the $200..
The scooter tyre fits but would wear out quick because of the shape and looks a little strange.

I fitted and checked clearances. Will be some slight rubbing on full lock. I found a guy who has fitted these and has fitted a limiting bolt to the steering rack which will reduce the lock so no rub. Goggos has excellent turning circles so this won't be an issue.
