I am a volunteer at Papplewick Pumping Station in central uk http://papplewickpumpingstation.co.uk/
and we have restored two large weir pumps to working order and display them running every steaming day. (pic attached below)
They were salvaged from Boots PLC drug company here in Nottingham
The makers plates are either missing or too badly damaged to make out the details.
Does any one know what model they are?
They both work fine although the left hand pump end fibre piston rings were too badly damaged to refit it still pumps into the tank with no back pressure to work on!!

Hi Ark
About the only thing I can tell you from the pic is that they are set up to run on superheated steam.
The mechanical lubricator and what I think is a Stainless steel pump rod indicate this.
Do you have any more pics of the steam end.

Thanks for reply phil,
As I recall when we had them stripped the piston rods are chromed, the pump cyl's are bronze lined.
I will take some more pics to send possibly in a couple of weeks as I am on duty this coming Sunday at Wollaton Hall industrial Museum running our 1858 Beam engine http://www.nottinghamindustrialmuseum.co.uk/Collections/Steam/ so I won't get to Papplewick till the following Sunday.
Chris.

Hi phil,
Took some more pics on Sunday (attached), estimating from the outside of the casting the steam cyl is approx 21"strokeX8"bore and the pump cyl is 6.5"bore
on close inspection of one of the makers plates all I can make out is a Ser No.

Hi Ark
with that number it sounds like a relatively new pump, maybe even post 2nd world war.
I have just replaced the rings in one of our pumps (water end) with a new type of plastic. I am about to pull it apart and see how they are going but it is pumping quite well so I am optimistic.
I'll let you know what the plastic is called.
Those pumps are a good size I have to say.
Thanks for the pics.

Phil
ps there is a register somewhere that gives the details you are after though it might be in Australia.
