My only problem with this BB is that at infrequent times when I log on, the "last visited" time is X hours, then I go to either "User CP" or "New Posts" and get the time reverteds to 1 min ARGH!!! :mad:

Could some kind soul suggest a fix to this infuriating gremlin?

No I cant, most other forums have a facility where, you can mark al posts as read and then everytime you visit you simply click" view all unread". That way, you dont have to read all 10 pages of new posts everytime you visit. I havent worked out a way to do that here.

There's no real fix to this. The last visited time resets after 15 mins of inactivity. If you go in first thing in the morning it will say you have not been in for X hours. The X hours will remain while you keep working on the site, but if you do nothing for over 15 mins and then refresh or visit another page, your time will reset. This allows you to close the BB (either by accident or intentionally) and then return within 15 mins as if you never left.

However, it should never go down to 1 minute.

There is a handy link that you can put in your favourites which will show all new posts in the last 24 hours irrecpective of how long ago you were in.

This forum doesn't work like that - basically everything is unread until you have visited and then done nothing for 15mins after which everything is flagged as read.

Come on line but don't log in with your username and the days posts stay up and let you read away to your hearts content

You may have to go into your cookies file and delete the forum cookie then when you log in don't ask it to remember you

Couple of tricks that I use....

I don't log out.

On my desk top, I have a shortcut to http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/search.php?do=getdaily

When I do come on line, I don't ever close the first window, I always point to where I want to go next & right click & open the item in a new window.
IE, point to UserCP, Right Click & Open Item in New Window, then, in that window I point to each subscribed item, Right Click on the down arrow at the start of the item & click on Open Item in a New Window.

Then, once they are all open, I read each one & reply and/or close it.
If you don't have heaps of memory or processing power in your PC, only open a few at a time & as long as you leave the first 2 windows open, you can always go back to them & open more.

Easy. :)

Use Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org), and tabbed browsing- achieves the same thing, but even neater.

I have the newposts reset on my laptop (win 2000) but not on my home PC (XP). They are both using internet explorer.
One thing that might be an issue is that my that my laptop browser doesn't keep any browsing history. This may be confusing the search.
