I was down at M&G Industrial in Fyshwick today, they have a Schaublin lathe there along with a separate Schaublin cabinet of tooling.

Looks beautiful, lots of attachments, zillions of collets. Came from John Curtin School of Medical Research (ANU) apparently.

Mark of (M&G) wants $10K for the lot. Still, if destiny says that's the machine for you, then you just live that down.

PS I didn't see what Schaublin model it is, it looks like maybe 6" swing by 20" centres.

You too :)

Its a 102, he bought it from the ANU at the Grays JCSMR (i think thats right) auction. Its in real nice nick, heaps of tooling etc. Out of my budget thats for sure!

Out of my price range too. I imagine it going to a very serious horologist.

That's after coming across photos of the extraordinary workshop of Canterbury Clocks in Melbourne, where I see the Schaublin is also a 102:

That one was supplied by Apex Machinery in Mordialloc, or so the proprietor of AM, Derek Schindler, tells me.
