As mentioned in my other post I have a Hercus lathe. Up to now I have used HSS cutters directly in my 4 way toolpost. Most of my work of late has been machining chamfers on 4" steam pipe for welding school.

I have been daydreaming about getting some indexing tip cutting tools (12mm shanksize). What are members experiences with these on small lathes? My lathe only goes to about 800 RPM.

There seems to be the Chinese ones you see at markets etc. Then the next step up to quite expensive industrial grade from Herless, Minitech etc.

Feedback appreciated.
