Every time I post a reply or new thread I have to click "back" many times to get back to the start of a topic. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. You are going back through your browser cache. You can reload the page direct by clicking on "index" at the top. Hope this helps.

There doesn't seem to be anything that says "index" on my page at any stage during the posting.

Above where it says User CP or to the left of where it says Welcome, ribot you will find the wording: Woodwork forums > then you will see some other forum links. For example the one above this page I am on whilst typing this reply is:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=bottom><TD></TD><TD> </TD><TD width="100%">Woodwork Forums (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/index.php?) > WOODWORK FORUMS INFORMATION, FEEDBACK & DISCUSSION (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=37) > WOODWORK FORUMS INFORMATION, FEEDBACK & DISCUSSION (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=36) > Getting back to thread start (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?p=108413#post108413)

Clicking on any of the links will take you back through the tree. Try it for yourself. There are a lot of things you gan do in these forums. Playing around and finding out what you can and can't is part of the fun of it all. You can't break anything so give it a go. You might also like to have a look at FAQ's above for more info.

Alternatively, you may have a small downward pointing arrow next to the 'back' button on your browser. Click on this and a small menu will drop down with the last 5 or so pages you have visited. Select the one you want and hey presto you're there.

If your browser does not have this function, call me a dck'ead and ignore everything I just said.

Why would I wan't to do that? Theres no fun in fiddling with it if you cant break it!

When you have finished your reply it takes you to the page you are replying to. Go to the top of the page and click on new posts , this then takes you back to the page with all the recent posts you were looking through with the one you replied to on top. All the other posts that you had not read are still there for you to continue reading.
Merry Xmas
