Am looking at knocking up a decent workbench for the shed with a steel frame and marine ply (or maybe whatever i can find for cheap) top and shelf (see image below)
approx 2400 long, 900 high and 750 deep

i'm only new at welding and am still not the best judge of steel and its strength
would anyone have any recommendations as to the best type of material to use for the project ?
30x30x3 rhs ??
or maybe angle 30x3mm ?

keep in mind i'm just a home handyman, it doesn't need to hold the weight of a car engine :U

cheers

30 x 30 x 3 A/section should would fine if you not putting engine blocks on it.
Its far cheaper than Rhs-well SHS .

Remember tack it all up first.

A second hand solid core flush door would make a better top than ply, and would probably cost same or less.
2040 x 820mm. perfect size for workbench.
