Most of us here would love to have the whole darn lot, I know I would but unfortunately there is no room for them here, but they look absolutely fascinating, and I'm sure that their new owners will be delighted to receive them. Thank you for considering your fellow forumites when disposing of this most impressive collection.
I am not aware of the Keith Ruckers 'collection', but you are right - it is a great idea. Unfortunately scanning this lot is beyond my equipment, know-how and time resource, but it really is a worthy aspiration. Something like the Trove archive would be great, but I have no idea how this could even be started.

Thanks for your kind words, but I am not a collector in any sense of organised selection of items, just grabbed old items discarded by libraries and destined for the dump, plus a few books etc from my student days, or acquired when shed-dreaming. And your words "no room for them here" ring so true for me - my wife and I have recently cleared a few cubic metres of books in boxes. However it is really good to find others here who appreciate them.

Can I please have item 20 Weber Carbs. To save on your handling you could add mine to Caskwarrior, Ralph and I will collect it from him.

    Thanks

    Piers
    Will do Piers.
History of the book: about 1970 had a Peugeot 203 and bolted on a second hand Weber to try and increase the power. I needed the technical manual to understand the carb, and it did increase the power - from tiny to a little less tiny. For open road trips I got a noticeable additional power increase by unbolting the radiator fan.

    Cheers,
    Bill

    Plan for distribution

I went to the PO today for advice, and here is my proposal for a minimum-work (for me) distribution of the items:

    1. I will PM you with the size of pre-paid post satchel needed for the items you have requested, and my address.
    2. You can then purchase a pre-paid post satchel, write your own address on the front, put it in an envelope and post that to me.
    3. I will pack the satchel and post back to you.

This saves both you and me fiddling around with small money transfers, simplifies the process at this end, and I can't get your address wrong.

Pre-paid satchel price (covers delivery by road to any location in Australia):
    500g $8.55
    1kg $11.55
    3kg $14.55
    5kg $17.65

If there is a better plan please be forthcoming.

I am not aware if tracking is available for pre-paid; I suspect not but you can ask if that is an issue.
Comment: To reduce loss of incoming parcels (happened to me a few times) I have been using the AusPost Parcel collect service, whereby parcels are held at a nominated PO for collection by the recipient, who is notified by SMS and email when the item arrives at the PO. So far I have had minimal problems, except for a sender who got the address wrong, and a parcel returned to sender because I was out of contact (email and SMS) for a week.

I think this a smart way to preserve stuff like this.
The local Sydney based tool club (TTTG) has decided to dump their entire library.
Which of course was collections like yours which over the years had been donated.
El presidento bob made an executive decision too many crappy old tools so no room for books.
He Lost 3 of the committe with that email.
Wingeing at last nights meeting about the lack of volunteers to help at shows etc.
The beatings will continue until the morale improves!
Sorry about the rave, but Im a little p ed off.

    Bill,

No trouble to come up to Sydney any time to suit you. Youngest daughter and grand children in Surry Hills need a visit periodically so a detour on the way is no trouble, either by road or train. If you could PM me with a phone number/address I can make arrangements to suit.

    Cheers, Peter
