Had this emailed to me and thought members on here, might like to make a milling machine vise stop.

    Default Less complicated vice stop

Good on him for making something, but I think he was right.

That's a nice one Michael, OK if you have enough height on the jaws.

I remember some years ago sending (I think it was) Stuart one of them with some tubing I had posted him.
I had made a few in my spare time, at the time he didn't know what it was I sent with it until I explained.

I don't think it would have fitted those nice vices you have. A bit of jaw needs to be sticking up.

Since I bought a new vise, I'll be making a vise stop sooner or later. The more basic the better.

What sort of vice did you buy? That will be the deciding factor of what type you need to make.

I made a large adjustable one for my Kurt knock off from Titan machinery and 3 of those smaller ones just for a fun project. I just used some chrome rod I saved from something getting thrown out.
One side is press fit and the other is sliding with a spring in between if you want.
They only cost $6 in the US at the time, but as usual if they where available here they would be $20/$30, lol.

Same as lathe dogs, when the dollar was good I bought a whole set of 5from the US for under $20, then latter see Hare and Forbes selling one for $40, total rip off as usual for us Aussies.

I seen a couple of different types made on YouTube. Not sure what I'll do yet.

That's similar to my vice, I bought the 6 inch version.
I'll take a photo of my vice stop tomorrow, it bolts to the back of the fixed jaw into the 2 already tapped holes and is all adjustable.
    Easy job making it.

I was happy with my $220 Chinese vice back then, but latter on I gave it a make over and reground the bed, jaws etc.
I used a large grinding wheel on my horizontal spindle arbour to do the surface grinding as I don't own a surface grinder yet, lol

The blackening is still holding up, no rust even after being in damp storage for 3 years. Same as the larger vise stop.
