The inside diameter is 13.5mm. I have the tail stock Spring it is longer and lighter.
Got me beat, maybe it was in there but not really doing anything. It's had a lot of years for mods.

I may have made a mistake with my hercus serial number.
The serial number I quoted was stamped into the bed. Today I noticed that there is a Model number 6576 stamped into the brass plate installed on the gear box.

I would like to add my recently purchased Hercus A model lathe to your register.
The serial no. Is A9384.
Don't know the date of manufacture but suspect 1963 aprox.
