Thanks for your comments. I'm in the process of breaking in the blade. The cheap v belt also had a flat spot on it, so I bought a new Australian made one for $6. So much quieter.

I thought I'd share my experience with my recent purchase the Hare and Forbes BS-4A band saw.

Assembled the saw, as per the instructions and proceed to cut 100mm X 5mm SHS. Worked...

First off, depending where you live it would be cheaper to go to a steel merchant to purchase flat bar and the can cut it for you. Melsteel for example.

Mild steel is best for this application.

I bought 4L of iso 46 from supercheap and it seems to do the trick. And Ill use the rest on the slide ways etc.

I bought a heerless lathe made in 1989. It has these oiling points imbedded in the castings to lubricate the slides etc. However i'm not sure how inject the oil in them. What oiling gun do...

Can the jaws be replaced from the vice? To stop the parallels from coming out you. You can shim between the work piece and the top of vice to stop work piece from bowing up.

Also in regards to the dial indicator on the taper inside the spindle i checked else where on the spindle theres a flat spot just behind the treaded section that I tried, she was still out at .1mm. ...
