Joe's power hacksaw
A few months back Joe put up a small power hacksaw for sale

Which I managed to snag. Partly bought for curiosity, but also occasionally I fabricate with stainless steel and the bandsaw does not like that at all, so I revert to a hacksaw or angle grinder to cut it.
A couple of people who missed out asked for details, so -
As the label says, it is a 'Peerless' product, made back in the early 1980's.

The vice is pretty standard and can hold something 130mm high by 140mm wide (maximum). Based on that I would suggest 100mm square. It looks like it might be designed to take slippers to make mitre cuts.

The blade fitted is a 10" blade, but with some shuffling it could take a 12" blade (I think). Back end is just a couple of screws, front has a tensioning device of sorts. Horrible to get to that back screw though.

The cutting action is through a motor, geared down and then driving a scotch yoke like device. My tacho suggests around 160 strokes per minute (60mm stroke).

Original paint is indeed a bright green hammer tone

It runs, although I haven't tried it on metal yet. First up it needs to be cleaned and lubricated. Worth noting that whenever getting secondhand electrical equipment that looks to have not been used for some time - check the wiring. Opened up the plug to check and both the active and earth pulled out of the screw terminals very easily.

I was going to clean it first, but the temptation with 5 minutes to knock off was too strong.

Cuts nicely, and faster than I can with a hacksaw. Next to no shaking of the table it was on as well.
