Bunnings had Irwin Record T bar sash clams T136/9 66" on special for $30 each. Seems like stores had only 5 clamps each. I managed to get 10. Not bad when Carbatec currently has them on special for $139 down from $174. Unfortunately none left in SA now.
You lucky so-and-so Bob! Why did you sell it to your friend Raymond???? He's even luckier.....
That is a rigi-didj Jig Borer!
The entire drive section is home-made, but the original drive mountings and some fittings are still there - and it could be restored to its original function, and probably precision. That is one hell of a specialised precision tool. By the way, it's an "Electrakeen" (not kleen) and they were a New Zealand importer and seller...
[emoji16][emoji16][emoji16] thanks yeh no glasses on when reading the name on the logo. Seems tgat company closed down 1995/6.
From what I've sourced via Google its possibly a Sigma Jones not a BCA there is only the Sigam Jones turntable/cross slide so far with any Brand name.
Bob sorted out dodgey electrics.
I hope to strip it down clean it up etc.
Went for a drive on Sunday to pick up a Starrett 199 level I bought on ebay and the gentleman threw in, as freebies, something much more interesting: a pair of old (1980s) TESA digital calipers. He did say that he wasn't sure if they worked or not, but I certainly wasn't going to say no.

Unfortunately, the SI seems properly dead, but after cleaning up some corrosion on one of the circuit boards I got the SM to work and it has a feature I've never seen before: it does tolerances

Set your low and high and it indicates if you're above, below or within you limit with coloured segments on the LCD
Attachment 374619Attachment 374621Attachment 374620
Press a button and it switches between external and internal and the colours are reversed
Attachment 374622
Given that no one does it anymore, I'm guessing it wasn't considered useful (if you know how to count you don't really need it). It's certainly a neat idea and, with those coloured LCD segments, probably cost a pretty penny back in the day.
This Mizoguchi UPA 3 clone found its way across from Perth to me, so im tickled pink, everything was still sealed and i dont think its been used more than once or twice.
Nothing would move due to frozen grease but all taken care of now.

Another impulsive must have purchase. Super Tec STP-20A surface grinder. Appears to have had a very easy life. Testing my wifes patience big time with this one. The manual states 1200kg but i call bullsh*t, this thing put up as much resistance to being unloaded as my Victor Lathe (1700kg). Attachment 374715
Well this came back with me today, had my dad with me to share driving which was nice. The loading was very very sketchy and it really taxed the 2.5 ton fork to the limit. But it's all wrapped up waiting for the macson to move out.
Does anyone else here have a DSG with a fastlock spindle? Attachment 375251
This thing is built like a squad of brick sh*thouses. Even the door for the electrical access is 7/8 thick cast iron. Everything has thick chrome plating, including the tailstock quill.
Hi Caskwarrior, Guys,
I envy you guys with the space to put those nice machines ! Me with a little shop on a suburban estate, living on a pocket handkerchief.
Good one, nice machine that...
If it helps, this has to sit outside looking like this until I free some space. Pretty cramped inside at the moment.Attachment 375252
Ralph, your shed's not as cramped as mine, I can't even fit the surface grinder in there yet!!!
Enjoy the tool.

Hella across the road from me have unfortunately decided to wrap up production (despite still being profitable without the auto stuff) and although they haven't got to the toolroom yet I did buy this from the assembly inspection area.
It's only a grade B but it's still in calibration!
It's also more than twice as thick as my current surface plate of the same size. (Its 600 X1000 X 250)

Shedhappens wanted a picture of this, so here it is, I pressume he's asking for pictures of the shed!!!!!

Mind you, this is because there is 2 sheds worth of stuff there, as I'm trying to extend the shed by 8 metres.
Hopefully that will happen next week, well some of it.
Kryn
My garage is getting the same way Kryn, except all my stuff is worthless crap lol :D
