Hi Metalforum
I wish to get some advice on "soldering...brazing " either gal iron, as in old roof sheets, and also german silver, yeah I know bit ambitius, want to build a resonator guitar, but not much on our friend Google on how to do or plans.
I'm building tele copies and will also resonate one, easier than full build reso from scratch
I have renovated several property's and is quite familiar with brazing and soldering, but would still like a bit of Experts advice.
Thanks
TZEN

Hi Chris
Havent done much soldering on Gal. Iron but for what you are decribing I think I would be looking at Silver soldering (or silver brazing) as it is much stronger than ordinary soldering. The usual things apply, cleanliness etc.

Beware!
Beware of toxic gasses from galvanized metal being welded/heated.
Remember if the ID exceeds the OD the hole will be on the outside!

Given that regular soldering may not provide the strength you are looking for and the toxic fumes associated with silver soldering gal, I'd suggest using mild steel and then plating with chrome or another finish once you have fabricated.
