Thread: Ward 3DS Capstan Lathe Manual ??

Hi to everyone ,
I recently obtained a Ward 3DS Capstan Lathe and i am now searching for manuals on this lathe so i can do a complete clean and service and not stuff anything up . Can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain these ? preferably an australian source i am eager to get started

here`s the photos as promised
The lathe weighs around 2.3 ton and wasn`t too bad to move . The Lathe was being used up until a few weeks before i bought it now its time to clean it up . Since the photos were taken i have removed 2 x 9 litre buckets of brass chips from the lathe .

Did you get it from the John's Valves auction???

There are manuals for it here but are terribly overpriced even though they are very good quality...

Hi RC ,
yes it is ex John valves , its a shame to see the place close down . I have a mate who used to work there a few years ago and he operated this same machine for awhile so i had a bit of background on the Lathe .

I have the oner/opperator manual but its only 14 or 17 pages and mostly deals with using and oiling the machine but like you said those books on that other site are costly,you are welcome to a copy of mine if you like???e-mail me if you want it (for free) it is for the 2 and 3DS models?? RAFE
