    Default copper wire, flux removal

Hi, I am looking for something to remove excess flux after soldering copper wire. I haven't done any soldering before and the tutorial recommends flux remover so that the copper wire can be patina'd. The one welding shop I found, didn't know what I was talking about, which is probably understandable since I hardly knew what I was asking for!

    Thanks

Just some soapy water should do the trick or depending on the size of the project some soapy water or metho on a cotton wool bud.

Thanks, I will try your suggestions. I am going to use .5 to 2mm copper wire, nothing very big. Just a matter of putting joins in the wire.

    Thanks

I learnt something. Solder clean metal. Some of it was very technical but I should make sure the copper is not oxidised so clean it well first. Solder quickly and with as low a temp that will do the job. Pretty good tips so thanks!

Flux remover is used a lot on circuit board making, so both Dick Smith, & Jaycar, should have it.

Flux Remover fumes can be toxic, particularly if they get near a naked flame.

Metho & a toothbrush is a bit slower but much safer.
